Great Lakes - Labor Day Weekend

We've gone to the Cleveland Air Show every year for the past 11 years. We'll be going again this year with a couple with a new Carolina Classic 25. We'll be picking the best weather day of the 3rd, 4th, or 5th. Usually, I can't wait and go on opening day.

I probably should have posted this on the THT Get Togethers board, but I think most on the great lakes monitor this board. In any case, I figured I'd throw open a date (3rd, with 5th as weather backup), time (start anchoring about 11:30AM), and place if anyone else is interested in either rafting close to the breakwall off Burke, or otherwise sharing space to enjoy a cold beverage on a hot day.

We should be easy to spot: 1 Albie, 1 CC rafted due north of the C-130 tarmac location right on the Coast Guard patrol border marker line. Post a response here, and we'll keep a lookout for you and monitor CH 72.

If you can, the best show is actually on Friday....yes the practice. There are no permiter safety buoys out yet, very little perimeter patrols, and almost no other boats. Its like your own private airshow!!!

Other than that, in my opinion you've got a good spot picked out. There is a very large inflatable orange "show center" visual reference marker that looks like a huge dock cleat for the pilots. We anchor north of this marker and north of the buoyed safety perimeter during the three days of the weekend show.

Friday is the best day.....

Will keep a look out and maybe raft up....my 3 year old will be more interactive this year for it!

I am definitely excited for this event. You got to love Labor day weekend. This is going to be one of a kind event. Let's all go have the time of our life. Everyone have a great time.

Weather really cooperated yesterday... was out from 1:30 till 7 pm..... the afternoon show was awesome..... tons of boats across from the breaker.... coast gaurd did a nice job herding the cats too!

I was there Saturday from 11am til about 6pm. Ate at Shooters after the show. Had a great time except for the dickheads who acted like it was ok to bring their boat through as fast as they can go through a bunch of anchored boats. It was hell getting in & out of the river. So many boats all over the place & the wake was bouncing off each other causing a huge mess. Other then that & a little sunburn I had a great weekend.
