I have been looking at purchasing a used boat for the last year. The most difficult part of the entire process has been trying to determine what a good price is for the boats I have looked at. I have attempted to use the NADA guidlelines but rarely does this resource appear to give a good idea of pricing. What is a good method for determining if what a seller is asking is a good price for there boat. I am intereted in a 1993 256Dusky with a 250 four stroke Zuke. The motor has approx. 100hrs. on it and it is a 2007. The seller is asking $24,750.00. Good price? I looked at a 1997 model of the same boat with twin 175 evinrudes with only 550hrs on these motors and it had a trailer where this one does not and it was sold at 19,000. Where do you start in determining value. All help and suggestions would be appreciated, THANKS

If you know how to examine a boat to establish whether its seaworthy and undamaged it then just becomes a matter of experience with comparing package prices.

Of the 2 boats you listed, the only similarity is the brand name on the hull, they are completely different packages.

I find the one with the trailer for $19K to be a better deal, if I wanted a yammy or 4 stroke I'd prefer to buy my own engine.
