For those of us who do not have the rate compass(RFC35R now RC25) but have the RFC35 fluxgate, Simrad now has an upgrade plug in board for around 400.00 to make it a rate compass. The added feature is you can wire it to supply NEMA out stabilized heading to your radar's that can accept NEMA for overlay or MARPA. This way you do not need another heading sensor so will save $$ and make up the cost of the upgrade if you are looking for stabilized NEMA data. It will take some fine wireing to get the NEMA output so not for enexperienced but should be straight forward to just get rate function as simrad uses Sine/Cosine heading input not nema.
