I have been shopping hard for a replacement boat and see a strange trend that i do not see with other makes. It seems not to make any difference whether the boat is a 5 year old 32 with 2000 hrs on the motors or a 200 hour 36 with new trips. They all seem to be in the 150-175k range.

Are these sellers hoping to get lucky? Dont want to sell? or?

Half the ads i dont even look at.. an 8 year old 34 askng 159k with 1200 hrs on it??? heck brand spankin new is 185k with decent equipment

Any Yellowfin owners want to sell their 32 or 34?

It must be the kool aid kicking in! ;?

Seriously, I have seen the same thing when I look at the ads. You would have to be a fool to pay 85% the cost of a new boat for a 5 or 6 year old boat.

Keep looking, you might find somebody that actually wants to sell their boat.

They just don't want to take the showroom A** whoopin from buying it new. I have a friend that just bought a 2010 24 Bay with less than 100hrs for 14k less than the original buyer had paid it is an awesome boat great fit/finish. He had lost over 1k month in value and I''m sure my friend will be doing the same for awhile. Kinda like buying a new car and driving it off the lot but paying over 200k for it to start off with. Yellowfin's are very nice and I would love to have one I simply cannot justify spending that much money just to catch a fish. Maybe someday I can buy one of the 2005/06's in 2020 when they are around 40-50k.

Asking price and what a boat sells for is much different, especially in this market.

Go price one new. By the time you get done with the build, that 150k price is looking better. We have twice that into our 2011 36. When you add 50k in electronics, seating, outriggers, underwater lights, extra livewell pumps, hardtop, etc... they all add up. Not to mention 15-17k in tax!

Trust me, it's not just YF. Before I bought my boat, folks were advertising 3-5 year old Scout's, Everglades', Edgewater's, Grady's, etc. at prices that were within a nice GPS unit of a brand new boat, and tens of thousands above NADA.

Agreed. Asking price is just a starting point. Do you ever list something at the minimum you are willing to take for it?

I think there has been some serious price creep on the new ones that lifted the late models. Three years ago you could buy a 34 new in the 200 range. Now the 32 is north of that when decked out.

There are also very few on the market compared to other brands. Most of the listings on boattrader are actually sold.
