Looking at mid 70's SF in the 40'-48' range.Any advice on the boat would be apreciated.Thanks

check the window sills for rot - they did a bad job of sealing the wood sills on the mid 70's boats...
(had a '72 36 FB sedan)

I had a 76 48 footer with 8/71's and it was a great boat. There are known areas of rot that are easy to find... Aft bulkhead, house windows and the stringer to bulkhead junctions.
It's a very sea kindly hull that is pretty efficient thru the water. I'd allow a budget to tear the aft deck out, replace tanks and hoses and then you know what you got.
Neat boats, go for it ! Also, go for the 48, you'll be glad you did. I'm at Canaveral on the weekends and would be happy to help you examine one. Survey is mandatory, of course.
