My bilge is hardwired to Batt. The pump works at the switch on the helm but does not work automaticley when the float switch is submerged. The float switch is a closed type switch.
Any ideas to test the system. Thanks Jo

its a simple electrical system just start tracing.

Do you have 12 volts feeding the float?
No - There's your problems
Yes - Submerge the float, is it putting out 12 volts?

No - Replace switch
Yes - Check connection go to pump for corrosion.

Dump the float switch and get a water witch switch. Is the boat wet slipped?

Then def dump the flaot switch and get this.

Make sure it's wired direct with no b.s. inline fuse to fail. These are used by caosties and most patrol boats around here. Now moving parts to fail or stick. Simple test is hold a wet rag against it and wait for bilge to turn on.

If the batteries are in the bilge I would move them too...
