I am looking for an experienced welder to put on a hardtop on a Grady White 228. I live in the Central Ca coast. Has anyone done a hardtop locally? Every shop I contact doesn't sound like they have any experience. Maybe in So Cal I don't mind driving.

There's a couple of Gradys pictured here. PYT built one for my Grady 25 years ago, so they have the experience you're looking for.http://www.pacificyachttowers.com/gallery/half-tower-hard-top.html

I'm glad to hear PYT has been around that long. I have been talking with them and just wanted to hear about anyones experiences with them or anyone else. Sounds like yours was good.

PYT did my t-top and I was watching a hardtop go on a Parker. Fantastic work and a great guy. I trailered mine from Sacramento for him to do it. Go on bloodydecks.com and you'll see 100 or so guys who will say the same for him

Give Davis Boats a try.
Theyv have installed all sorts of towers, arches, etc... on their new boats. Maybe they can customize one for your boat or at least refer you to someone who can.
They are locaated in Paso Robles, near the 101/46/41 junction.
Good luck!

i have a lot of friends with beautiful work done by PYT.
like mentioned above, check out bloodydecks or any other west coast fishing sites... i have a feeling PYT will be the overwhelming response, but you may find someone closer to home who will show you the work done on their boat by a local fabricator.
good luck!
