Taking a trip to Nassau and boat will be at Atlantis marina; does anyone know of a decent hotel near the marina other than the resort (walking distance or short cab will do). The cheepest room there is $490 per night.

sincerely,

Make sure you stay on th PI side of the bridge. I have done alot of projects on PI and when you cross the bridge it gets ugly real quick

Second that.....Unless you stay in a resort hotel it gets real interesting....The Comfort Suites may be the best deal on the island!

Guys,

Thanks for the info, why does it get sketchy across the bridge?

Never been to the islands huh?
The Bahamas is tough unless you are in the tourist section or as in my case you know people and worked there with the same group for awhile. If you want to get some decent food there is a place called the poopdeck that is just over the bridge on the Bahamas side. If you are leaving PI when you get to the bottom of the bridge make a left and it is just down the street on the left. Great Conch Salad last time I was there

I went looking for parts "over the hill" in Nassau several years ago and the proprietor of the place I went to bluntly told me I should get my pale a** back to the marina before dark or parts would be the least of my problems. I listened.

It is a lot more than that. 490 is the base, on that they add maid fees, room cleaning fees front desk fees, new brake shoes, new break socks, the daily add'l charges take up the whole page.

2 years ago, a burger by the pool was $28.00

The Bahamas in general are truly a paradise, and the Bahamanian people are very friendly - and 90% of Nassau is this way.

"Sketchy across the bridge" at night will put you in contact with the other 10% of the Nassau population- ie. drug dealers, con artists, muggers, and other ugly Bahamians who would just as soon slit your throat as say hello. That said, do NOT look at Nassau and think you are in the real Bahamas. ;)

Man... so much BS here. Nassau has areas to stay away from no doubt. That said there are plenty of fantastic places in Nassau like Arrawak Key (fish fry) that are great places to hang out at night. My wife and I were at Arrawak Cay while the locals were practicing for Junkanoo. They abducted us and gave me a cow bell and my wife a whistle and MADE us dance in their parade and party into the wee hours of the morning with them. They wouldn't accept no for an answer. The music was fantastic. Some of the friendliest people i have ever met anywhere in the world. Most Bahamians love tourists and love to share their culture.

I couldn't agree more....Bahamians for the most part are non racial...I feel a lot safer in Nassau than I do in Miami...And I've been going there for the past 20+ yrs....Spent plenty of nights by myself hanging out with locals w/o issue...Even got in on a big poker game in someones house till the weeee hrs. of the morning one night...That night was a blur.

Gotta love the Bahamas!!!
