Time to updated my 12 yr. old Garmin electronics. Running a 26 Mako CC in the Fl. Keys. I fish in anywhere from 7' in the Gulf to 1200' out front in the Atlantic. What I want from a chart plotter/ bottom finder is to mark structure, fish, and bait in a reliable manner. I do lots of wreck dropping in up to 250', would like to mark tuna at the various humps that we fish offshore, and now own an electric reel setup that I would like to start deep dropping in 600' with. I have been seeing the magazine adds for Hummingbird side scan imaging for about 7years. I always considered HB to be reliable and affordable, but not very advanced (to put it kindly). I'm looking to spend $1500 max, and I can't stop looking at that cool imagery that HB has established. I know that depth is limited on 3D, but units also feature 2D. Can anybody please share their experience with their HB side image? Not sure if I should give it a chance, or stick with what I know. I have a little money to spend, but none to burn. Help please!
