Fellas,

I'm soliciting ideas and advice for securing/hiding electronics that are flush mounted in a console without using a separate electronics box. I am looking for something that will provide just a bit of security from casual thieves and opportunists -- something that would hide the electronics from casual observation and temptation while I'm at a gas station or have the boat on the trailer overnight somewhere.

I've thought about a cover made of plexiglass (opaque) or starboard that would fit over the electronics with a pad lock or a cam lock. I'd like to have a minimum of hardware permanently affixed to the console.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

My console has a plex sliding door in a top channel that comes out and over my set back electronics that I mounted with hinges, barrell bolts on 3/4" starboard. It locks down. In addition, I have festooned the plex with a ADP sticker and a flashing LED from Radio Shack that gives the impression of a security system. Not the real thing but keeps nusiance intruders at bay...

Cooper had a bar that locked across the face of his electronics. Maybe he'll post a pick if he has one.

Does covering the helm area with an old bath towel count as a 'security measure'?

Depends on what the towel was last used for
