I recently bought a 2011 Ranger 2410 bay boay. It was used @ 13 hours. It has dual 8 ft. power poles. I love the dual poles, makes shallows and even docking a brezze!! But I did not get an owners manual at the time of purchase for the power poles. Did not think about it at the time, the owner did give me the 2 wireless remotes.
When the pole - in this case poles are deployed and I am fishing shallow, and a large (likethis weekend - 40 ft sea ray is plowing at about 10 mph throwing one heck of a wake) what happens to the force of the p.p. spike. Does it have some presure release? does it just stab more into the ground on the down spike? Just wondering - the whole thing happened real quick and I could not the if the p.p.'s retracted or what, What does it do on a ground surface if it could not penetrate it on the down slam? Could it break it? Thanks.:joincc:

power poles have a pressure release valve. if there is too much pressure put on the system it will just allow the hydraulic fluid to squirt back into the reservoir. its quite a bit of force. if you are on the water and for some reason your PP wont retract you can get in the water and force it up. you are gonna have to try real hard to break a spike. if it does break or start to splinter just contact PP and they'll ship you a new one no questions asked. PP has absolutely, without a doubt the best customer service in the industry. i had a problem with my remotes a week or 2 ago. i posted an inquiry on face book at 9:00 in the evening. branden (works for power pole) helped me diagnose and fix the issue THAT NIGHT!

I had a pump go bad and it stayed down so its easy to take the psi out of the system and push it back into place. Other than that one time dual PP is the best ever

How would you use a power pole to dock?

Wow - now that's a great reply. I feel a whole lot better - very impressive video. Love them so far. Aside from fishing we (wife and I) hit a few places for eat and drinks when we go out, and she gets all nervous when it comes to throwing some lines and securing the boat when approaching docking. For the most part (8 ft. or less) I just hit the p.p. and she does not panic and it's easier not for me not hearing her holler-in - just an added benefit. Once you get used to these things I would not want a boat without one - or two. Thanks for the info.:)

It pins the stern, and pretty much the whole boat from swinging around with current and wind, and just gets you positioned and set as you cleat the boat off, set fenders etc. Very helpful solo or with a yelling spouse.
