looks like the current biggest GM gas engine is 6.2L v8 (Caddy) or 6.0L in most 2500/3500 series trucks/SUV's.

do they not offer the 454 or 8.1L v8 as an option on a 3500?

if not, anyone know when it was discontinued?

sadly yes, i had the pleasure of working on a few of these 8.1 monsters that came in the law enforcement/military suburbans. These things are animals but the truth to the matter is that they are not as economical as the 6.2 is. http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/stories/2009/12/14/daily53.html

the last production year in the 2500/3500 trucks for the 454 was 2000. the last 8.1's were in the 2007 classic body style. the engine was never used in the new body style, just the duramax and 6.0l
