I am looking to take my two sons (ages 12 and 14) and father-in-law on a charter out of Homer the end of July. Can anyone recommend a good captain/charter for a halibut or combo trip (I prefer a combo trip)? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You will get a mixed bag of answers here...http://forums.outdoorsdirectory.com/forumdisplay.php/3-Alaska-Saltwater-Fishing but all charters in Homer will get you your limit...some smaller than others. I would actually recommend a Seward charter for a mixed bag type of day...I usually fish for salmon, shark, halibut, rockfish, lingcod, skate and much more in just one day out of Seward.

I have had slips in both Homer and Seward. You can’t beat Homer if you are mainly going for halibut. Silver Fox has a good reputation, mostly smaller 6 pack boats if I remember correctly. For a combo I would go out of Seward and try to get on with Crackerjack charters but there are a number of good charters in Seward. I was never skunked fishing for halibut out of Homer but the biggest halibut I have caught was out of Seward.
