I recently ordered 2 Penn Slammer 760 spinning reels for my 2 new 15-50 Connley spinning rods. I want to go with #20 mono. I have no interest in using braid. I like the Momoi Hi-Catch Diamond on the conventional reels and figured it would be fine on the spinners also. After doing a little reading on-line I am second guessing myself on the Diamond. I have already purchased a spool and haven't used it yet so I can return it. What 20lb mono would be better to use or will the Momoi Hi-Catch Diamond be fine for this reel? The rigs will be used for everything from throwing bait and lures at Dolphin and Sails offshore to targeting Tarpon and large Snook inshore. I already did a search and couldn't find an exact thread for answers.
Thanks,
Ken

Momoi Diamond is top notch. I am an Ande fan, but on my good reels I use the diamond.

What stuff did you read that is making you doubt your purchase?

What stuff did you read that is making you doubt your purchase? Some people say it is too stiff for a spinning reel and doesn't cast well. I don't want to find out the hard way by wasting $40 in line.

X2 X2 Use the Diamond 20 on spinning and 30 on bait casters. Never had a problem.

I'm glad to see the Momoi getting the thumbs up. I've used it for years with no issues but never heard any hype about it. I'm actually flirting with disaster on one of my small inshore spinners, the line has been on the reel for close to 8 years now and its still beating the snook and reds when I want it to.

Thanks for the replies. I just wanted to make sure people have used it and not had any casting problems.

I have had that 20 pound line on several spinning reels for dolphin and what not. You will really like it if you get a bigger fish on because of the break point.
If you want an expert opinion. Call Ray's bait and tackel in Boca or im sure another quaility shop will know. But Ray and the crew know whats up and can point you in the right direction.

Diamond markets and sells three different no-braid lines:
Diamond, Hi-Catch, and Illusion.
The Diamond line is much "stiffer" when compared to Hi-Catch and Illusion; it just won't cast as well off a spinning reel (especially in the higher tests). It does make for an excellent line on conventional reels.
For 20lbs mono (and I wouldn't go any heavier on spinners), get the Momoi Hi-Catch and save the Diamond for conventional reel. I've used Illusion on 8-10 and 12lbs spinners without problems.
