Well I guess it's time I say Hi. I've been cruising around here for long enough and enjoy the info and banter, so I'd thought I'll join in.
A bit about me. Born in Bronx, NY in 57, and lived on Castle Hill Ave in the projects.
(PLEASE don't hold that against me:grin :)
Lived there till 1970 when we moved to Bel Air, MD. At that time I would make trips to the upper Chesapeake Bay and fish for cats and what ever else we could get to bite. Even though I didn't have a boat or crab pots I immediately developed a love for the blue crab. And who in the right mind wouldn't? Damn! I miss those "blues".
So fast forward 30 years>>>>>>>> Here my wife, Nancy, and I live in Woodland, WA, which is about 30 miles North of Portland, OR. The prime Lewis River runs through town and host two hatcheries for salmon and steelhead. It dumps into the Columbia River about three miles from our house.
If you would split the lower Columbia in half, we are midway between the Columbia meets the Pacific and Bonneville Dam. This is about 60 miles in either direction. Since the salmon, steelhead and sturgeon in the Columbia are migratory we are living in the perfect location to run our guide business. We also have great runs of shad and abundant walleye as well.
I have been full-time for eight years now and still love what I do.
Out of respect for the owners of this site I will not post my contact information in my sig line until I am a paid sponsor. I talked to Loren about this several days ago. But rather, if you have a question about fishing out here send me a PM and it will promptly be answered. If I can get just a handful of trips from here than I can afford the expense of the advertising.
Well, for the moment, that is about it. It is a pleasure to read what the East Coast is up to these days and I look forward to earning your respect here.
There is one last thing; I have no problem telling folks when the fishing sucks! As a professional guide and a person that sleeps well at nights, you can be sure that I will always give you the straight scoop.
Respectfully Yours
Capt. Pete Grace
