Before you retire the Ol’ vessel for the year & winterize her, you need to also give attention to the boat lift. I can’t tell you the number of calls I get in early spring from frustrated boaters stating that the lift is inoperable. A little attention now will help months down the road. Here is what I tell all my customers:

 Inspect the cables for any flat spots, or fray’s. If you should have any questionable areas replace the cable.

 Grease the gear unit up & all other grease inserts located on the lift.

 If you lift faces north & you’re subject to high waves from fronts that blow through, move your toggle switch up & out of the way. Make sure the electrical cables are facing down so that any water that might get in can drain out.

 If your motor was performing less than optimal, replace it now so you’re not worrying about it all winter.

 Inspect the structure of the lift & replace any questionable bolts, chock brackets, runners, slings, etc.

It really is common sense but needs to be done. Think about how excited you are in spring to run the Ol’ girl but you can’t because it’s stuck in the lift. If you have any questions I’ll be happy to answer any & all.

If you should need replacement cables, pulleys, switch, motor, etc we extend great discounts to fellow "Truther's". We've got installers ready to go but most of the replacement equipment can be done by the "do-it-yourselfer".
