I'm sitting here scratching my head on why I have no sound coming out of this older computer? AMD Athlon, 64 Processor 3400+, 2.41 GHz, 2.00 GB of Ram. I just bought speakers and I am getting zero noise/ sound from the on board sound card. .......yes the speakers are hooked up right.

When I go to Control Panel/ Sounds and Audio Devices nothing is active? What I mean by active is, I can't click on anything to change anything. I have no problem clicking on the various tabs, but I can't change anything in any of those tabs?

When I go to Device Manager and check the Sound, video and game controller there appears to be nothing wrong and everything is working fine.

What am I missing here guys? ;? When this was my computer I was running a Sound Blaster card in it....now there is no card in it, just the mother board sound card, which has all the jacks.

I had checked all the drivers, they all say they are working fine ......but that doesn't mean I can't reinstall them I guess.

How do I reinstall the drivers for the mother board sound card?

go to the manufacturer website (ie.. abitusa.com) select drivers/support, select your mother board model #, then select the audio driver for your OS.

Sounds stupid but...check to make sure the speakers are not plugged into the mic jack. Also, open the advanced volume control and make sure nothing is muted.

Go to the device manager and post what type of sound device you have. Also, in control panel there are advanced sound settings, I had a simular problem with my sound card, you need to change it to the right output.

OK, what about opening her up and making sure the card is seated in it's slot completely?
