I have a picknick sholder in my electric smoker and was just in the kitchen thinking of what to baste it with.
In a moment of culinary clarity I put into a squeeze condiment bottle @ 3 Tbsp of brown sugar, @ 6 oz of coke a cola, 4 oz strong black coffee and @ 4 Tbsp of my homemade BBQue spice rub (standard - paprika, garlic pow, onion pow, cumin, chili pow, dry mustard, dash of cayenne, salt, pepper, pinch of dry tyme, white and brown sugar).
Sweet and spicey with a caramely aftertaste.
Hopefully the sugars will make a nice carmelized bark on it.
I could be onto sumthin here.
Will post results in @ 7 or 8 hrs.
