I have a new to me 1994 200hp merc 200 xri and I don't notice it smoking like i do my 03 200 optimax. The optimax is on a 23cc but the xri is on a bass boat. Xri is run hard and rarely idles the opti is run 4k and idles probably too much. The oiling system appears to be working, no alams and I can see oil through a clear tune going to the vst. I've put 10 hours on it and it hasn't blown so I feel like it's working. Any way to tell? Should I adjust the mixture?

theres a spec for how much the oil pump should be pumping at idle on most OBs, you would run it off a 5 gal can premixed to measure

Why not just run 5-10 gallons of gas through it and mark and measure how much oil is burned? That will give you an idea of whether it's burning at the right ratio. Run pre-mix in the mean time if you're uncertain.

I wouldn't want my motor running a minute with no oil.

Is the priming bulb hard indicating good pressure?

Do the on board computers diagnose this?

The VRO pump rubber diaphram faces can get clogged or perforated, so having that checked is a first prior to checking flow and pressure.

Rubber VRO pump diaphram in a Merc? Not really. Do what dajohnson53 said if you're unsure.

The oil injection on my '98 150 went out slowly and never gave an alarm at all until it quit working entirely. When I first noticed that it wasn't using as much oil and wasn't smoking as much as it used to I started mixing oil in my gas at 100/1 just to be safe, and marking my oil tank to get an accurate look at the oil consumption. When it quit working entirely I pulled the oiler and started mixing 50/1. The merc v-6 is a good motor but the oil injection is designed like an afterthought and will kill your motor if you don't watch it.
