I recently purchased a MSR2007 and the I-pod controller cable. The cable is wired to the old Ipod charging configuration, therefore it won't charge my pod without an adapter. Are there any plans to come out with an adapter cable configured to run the newer Ipods?

In September 2008, Apple released a new line of iPods/iPhones and introduced a change to their standard iPod interface. This has resulted in a compatibility issue between older & newer iPods/iPhones and our JENSEN iPod-ready radios. Unfortunately, it is not possible to create a different interface cable to restore compatibility. Use of the Auxiliary Input is recommended with unsupported iPods & iPhones.

Please see our iPod compatibility guide: http://www.jensenmarinedirect.com/downloads/dl/file/id/365/ipod_compatibility_guide.pdf

Please let us know if you need any further assistance with this.

On 8/9/10, the day after my inquiry, ASC decided to issue a technical bulletin stating that their "Ipod ready" radios that they have been manufacturing and selling since September of 2008 won't do what it was claimed to do with any Ipod manufactured after September 2008.
This leaves me with a radio that won't perform as claimed on the original packaging and in the sales blurbs. I also get to repair all the holes I put in my boat installing this unit that will not perform as originally claimed so I can purchase and install a unit that will control and charge any Ipod I can obtain from a retailer. This is not good.
Thanks for you response. I guess.

I understand your concerns and frustrations. Please know that this is not a new bulletin and has been available for nearly two years. We did take the opportunity recently to update the bulletin for new iPod models and stereo models. This bulletin is available on the web page for each of our products that is iPod-ready. We also provide a link to an Apple website to help identify iPod models to verify compatibility as well.

The MSR2007, as well as all other models listed, are still iPod-ready, as indicated by the features. They are compatible with many existing iPod models. It is unfortunate that Apple made specific changes to their hardware that caused compatibility issues when using their new models with our then-current radio design. Specifically, Apple eliminated Firewire support on all iPods & iPhones from that point forward, favoring USB only. This reconfiguration did not only affect JENSEN, it affected many other major brands that offered iPod-ready products based on the then-current iPod interface.

However, JENSEN will address these incompatibilities in future product launches. Just as Apple has introduced new model iPods, resulting in this incompatibility, JENSEN will have new models that will work with the current line of Apple products using their now-current iPod connection.

I have the 2007 with a lifetime subscription to Sirius. Always have crystal clear sound out on the water. So far the Stereo has performed as advertised and sounds great. I don't exactly know which IPod I have (it was a gift) but it connects and charges the IPod and sounds good to. Got a question for Jensen, my 2007 did not come with a faceplate for the unit and a friend of mine just ordered a newer version of the stereo that came with a faceplate. How can I obtain one of these. Thanks

CWA175 how did you hook up your Sirius radio to the Jensen? I purchased the Sirius docking kit Jensen told me to which came an 8 pin cable and an antenna. I read the manual and it stated to hook the 8 pin cable to the grey cable coming out of the radio marked to sirius radio module and the other end to the docking station. The only other connection was to the antenna. I called Jensen and Sirius to make sure everything was correct and compatable and they said I had the right stuff. (It seemed too easy!) I hooked the 8 pin cable to the 8 pin cable and the antenna and then took my Sirius radio out of my truck and pluged it into the docking station on the boat and it would not power up. It also will not power up in my truck anymore. Sirius said that it sounds like the Jensen Radio was putting out too much power and it killed my Sirius radio.
Is there some type of power converter that Jensen should have told me about?
You said you have had no problems, so I'm just checking. I have/had a sportster radio.

I re read your post and apologize for my first response. I believe you are asking what connects the antenna and the actual radio. Or how does the signal get from the antenna to the radio. This is what my radio uses. Hope this helps.

I just bought a boat with a Jensen MSR 2007 installed. Is there any hope of me getting a newer IPOD to work on this thing?

Hi rwk123,

The MSR2007 will not support newer iPod & iPhone models. You can, however, connect them to the AUX INPUT while controlling the iPod direct.

Please refer to this compatibility guide (http://www.jensenmarinedirect.com/downloads/dl/file/id/540/ipod_compatibility_guide.pdf) for further information.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks
