OK so I buy the Garmin Data Card Reader, HomePort Software, and a Blue Chart Data Card for SE Florida, get excited to go home and play on the computer only to find out my computer is running on 64 BIT, whatever that means.

Of course, I find out now that none of these products is compatible with 64 BIT. Am I screwed or is there a work around to this??

HomePort did download to my machine and I would have thought it would not have if it saw I was running 64 BIT.

Any advice?

Thanks,

John:mad:

Have you tried running it in 32 bit compatability mode?

Thanks, I will try it when I get home. Another problem, I come to work where my computer is NOT 64 BIT, reinstall HomePort, Download the drivers successfully, plug in the data card reader and it STILL doesn't work. I went to Garmin and downloaded the updated drivers and it still doesn't work. WHY are these things not Plug-N-Play, this is ridiculous.

Homeport is working fine on my 64 bit computer. Running windows 7 home premium in 64 bit mode.

No, what is rediculous is you posting this in 3 different threads, all spouting on about how the world isn't perfect. Sheeesh! Relax, take a deep breath, you'll figure it out, it's not a rocket science.

and FYI: "Plug and Play" is a meaningless term.

Thanks for your candor Birdman and taking the time to post something useless. What I find even more rE diculous, is that you can't spell ridiculous. You know the old mantra, if you don't have anything constructive to say, keep your mouth shut. Thanks anyway Dbag.

TRY putting your card into your GARMIN first-then--your cpu and let US know what is on it -------you may have to.

OH YEA-if you are putting your card into your cpu instead of a reader????----via--usb---you may have a problem

JJRJR,

You'll do better to create a single thread on an issue. That way, all your answers and any discussion will be in a single place.

BTW: I posted what I believe may be your problem in one of your other threads. Take a look. ;)

Thank you, I will do that from now on; I appreciate the sportsmanlike way in which you told me; I haven't used the forum in a while and just started back a couple weeks ago. Thanks again.
