What type of license is required in order to deliver boats, say 50-60ft sportfishing vessels?

There is no license required unless you have paying passangers aboard. However, most insurance companys require their clients to use a licensed captain when heavy dollars are involved.

If you are being paid to do delivery work you will need at least a six pack license. If you are doing it for free, then no license is required.

Also depends on how big the boat is. I think for that size you might have to have a 100 ton. Not sure how big of a boat a 6 pack is good for. I will be taking my class in sept.

If money changes hands, then you need a license. Where you are taking the boat also makes a difference. More than 200 miles offshore? Need an ocean license. Out to 200 miles, need a nearshore license. More than 6 passengers ever? Need a masters license.

The tonnage is immaterial, unless you are on a documented boat that specifies it, or for insurance purposes.
