I want to know if the MSR2107 can be mounted exposed on a center console without a cover. Can it deal with bad weather for many years?

I represent ASA Electronics, the producer of the JENSEN brand of televisions, stereos, and speakers and the Voyager brand of observation monitors and cameras. At ASA, we strive to provide excellent customer service and product satisfaction and would like to offer some assistance in this matter.

The MSR2107 commander is a fully water proof as well as UV stable model. It can be installed exposed in such a manner, however, it does also come with a plastic slide-on cover to keep the commander unit clean and protected from debris as well as prolong the life by limiting direct exposure. The tuner/amp module should be mounted inside the console or cabin area.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance with this.

I want to install the MSR2107 on the dash of my new Boston Whaler 150 Super Sport which has no cabin. I am investigating this unit because it appears to withstand being out in the weather, sun, salt, etc.. I was thinking of mounting it like my surface mount Garmin which has a protective cover for when it is not in use.

Are you saying this can't be installed on the dash the way I envision?

I went to the West Marine in Stevensonville, MD and they said it does not have a cover. I am glad to hear it comes with the cover.

The MSR2107 is a two-piece modular stereo system. The commander unit (wired controller with display) can be mounted in an exposed manner on a center console, as it is designed for all-weather use. We do also include a cover to help keep the commander clean and protected when not in use. The tuner/amp module is intended to be mounted out of the weather in a relatively protected area, such as in a cabin or inside the console. All the controls and display are on the commander, but the brains are in the tuner/amp module.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance with this.

That will be perfect! Thank you for being so responsive. Do you have a perfect-match set of white box speakers for the MSR2107? I want them as small as possible but not sounding too tinny.

I purchased the MSR2107. If I use the 2-hole mounting option, I need a template to help drill the holes correctly. The 2-hole mount minimizes the area on the dash that is drilled which makes this more desirable to me. I am surprised that you do not include a mounting template.

We do not have a set of speakers that directly match your description. However, please check jensenmarinedirect.com to see what we do offer. The jensenheavyduty.com website has two surface mount, waterproof speakers: HDS3000 and JXHD35. However, the MSR2107 is designed to drive higher-powered speakers.

On our website, you will find that there are accessories to the MSR2107 you might also be interested in.

I have a new template available for the commander unit. I can send it to you in the mail or email you a PDF version that can be printed. Please feel free to contact me via private message through THT or for faster response, please contact us directly using the contact information on our website.

The 2-hole mounting option uses M4-7 machine screws, not M5-8 as stated in the manual. You should provide these. I have been to Home Depot, Lowes, West Marine and 2 hardware stores and can't find these in stainless.

I have confirmed that the radio does in fact use an M4 machine screw and not an M5 as indicated in the owners manual. Thank you for bringing that to our attention.

Please note that the length of the screw may vary depending upon the actual material thickness in the application that the commander unit is mounted to. This is why these screws are not supplied with the radio as proper length will need to be determined by the installer. The length referenced in the manual is a common length used by OEM installations, but is not necessarily universal in its application.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

You should include a few different size screws in 1/4 inch increments. It is pennies in bulk and would have been a big help to me. Metric stainless screws are hard to find.

It would be nice if you change to a standard size.
