I have just purchased a left over 2007 33' Albemarle express boat with a marlin tower. The Florida dealer is telling me that Garmin's electronics have come a long way and he is recommeding I consider them for most of my set up. I have Furuno Nav Net on the 2004 Mirage I am selling him as part of this deal.

I sure would appreciate any and all recommendations and suggestions no matter how big or small.

Having recently purchased a boat from a dealer and gotten a package deal on electronics, my advice would be to buy the boat bare and get the best local independent to consult and install electronics and other needed equipment.
It has been a year and almost a thousand hours and I am still sorting out shortcuts and incompetances. I am kicking myself because I knew someone good near where I purchased the boat and incorrectly thought I was saving $$. As far as the dealer's installation warranty, forget it. After I was out the door, they wouldn't take my calls.
To paraphrase a well known bumper sticker, "The only way they will get my Furunos is to pry them out of my cold dead hand." On my last two boats the NavNets have performed flawlessly.
Not to knock Garmin; on the chartplotter end they are great. Here in Mex where the charts are crap, it is valuable to have a satellite photo.
My friend has Garmin stuff on his boat. I havn't seen the radar enough to comment, but the fish finder is mediocre.

You have just bought one of the nicest fishing boats there is...do it right.

Get Furuno and don't look back. Just look at the number of guys on here complaining about their stuff not working or the newest upgrade and why it doesnt work or the customer disservice when they didn't need it..

Granted I am biased by the reliable function of my current and past Furuno equipment and excellent customer service when I have needed it.

Furuno Navnet 3d network and enjoy your new boat...congrats!!
