Hey neighbor..... it is a little early, but not too early to try.
The surf is not awake yet, but there are a few being caught on/near the dark mudflat at the mouths of some of the NJ rivers and backbay creeks. that's where the water warms up first, which wakes up the little critters the bass eat in the spring....
Take a look at the Mullica River.... go to the Scott's B&T website and read up.... it is a pretty good area for early season

Action is picking up in the Seaside area. We've been hooking up here and there in the bay. Also heard about a few shorts coming in from the ocean side on clam. Slow pick but they are out there. Mid May to early June is when it gets very good here

Just fished at the DOD down there on the delaware river and in national park this weekend and my buddy caught 2 shorts at the DOD. Using blood worms.
