Looking at a boat with an`05 Mercury Verado Super Charged 250hp. does anybody have any experience with this motor? Are they good running motors and how`s the fuel economy? Are they reliable motors?

X2. If you buy it, you have to pay to be a member (you can still view the posts), but definitely worth the cost...:thumbsup:

You can post on the verado club without becoming a paying member, but just not post in the contributors area.

I've now over 300 hours in 3 seasons with my 2007-same thing as the 2005 Verado and have had utterly perfect performance out of the motor.

I'm bringing the boat/motor in to have the waterpump/impeller changed out next Wednesday as it is time.

My motor is on a 23' 5,000 lb boat and at a 4000 rpm cruise at 30 mph I get from 2.8-3.2 mpg. All depends on load/POB/conditions, but that has been my range. I have a 20 degree deadrise.

I get 50 mph @ WOT with a 3 blade 15x17" Mirage Plus and 47-48 mph with a 4 blade 15x16P Rev4. At WOT I get 1.6-1.8 mpg.

You can do a search like I had done when I was researching Verado's back in 2006/2007, and to this day, you will not find many posts with owners who have had persistent/dealbreaker issues with their Verado's.

My 2 "seal-the-deal" qualities that the Verado had/has;

1. Quiet, smooth and powerful, well those are 3 right there

2. The DTS/Digital Throttle and Shift as well as the electrohydraulic power steering is heaven to use. "Snicking" in and out of gear as well as the silky-smooth user adjustable throttle lever makes using, manuevering and adjusting the boats speed a total joy.

Go do Mercury's own website as well and click on everything they have on the Verado and you'll learn and read for days.
