Not going to give up a damn thing. They can keep writing me up, fine me, arrest me. I'm not gonna stop. I dot care if I catch anything or not; fishing is my catharsis, and I'll be damned if some tree huggin hippie and the other pickle smoochers in Washington are gonna F with my happy time.

You guy's just aren't listening. Let the big O explain why no fishing ever again is good for you (just like Obamacare) - maybe then you'll understand why we need to take up tree hugging and just handing all our money over to those Dems for redistribution to those more needy and deserving of our hard work.
Look on the brightside - in CA, where MPA's are now the rule, boat ownership has dropped considerably and as a result dock space is much easier to find and easier to afford.

So let me see.....

Over 20 years ago, the commercial fishing industry was asked, told, and taken to court to come up with a plan to control overfishing and manage the stocks. They couldn't agree on anything and never submitted a plan. So, the evironmentalists won the court case and the responsibility to make a plan was handed to a judge who knew nothing about the industry. Predictably, things got worse, and still the fishing industry could not present a plan, only complain about what the judge layed on them. Now Obama has evironmentalists at the controls (could be even worse than a judge who knows nothing about fishing) and who knows ? what they are going to come up with (well we do know they are forcing "catch shares" on the commercial guys).

The fact we seem to be missing is that most fish stocks were shrinking until the judge stepped in. Now, some are growing, some still shrinking. There has to be something done to preserve the fish, and that means we all have to give up a little something, because fisherman KILL fish most of the time. I am not saying end recreational fishing at all, but lets make sure our impact is not contributing to stock decline and lets make sure we can enjoy fishing and not kill fish. (I know most of the people on this Forum take great care to release juvinile fish unharmed and obey all the reg's.)

It is time to write to BoatUS, and all other fishing/boating organizations, to make a plan for the recreational angler and make sure Washington hears it and takes it into account. We have to use the Democratic process to our advantage and not just sit back and complain about the actions taken by people who have inherited the problem because we didn't address it ourselves.

The evironmentalists care about saving the fish, not so much about the fisherman, but most fisherman care about the fish as well, so there has got to be a middle ground.

In a very strange way. Bird is right. Goven the propensity for this farking scumbag admin to pull these types of moves on the American public, there comes a time when we say PHUCK you and this is it. If cites for bft goes, then all bets are off. If anyone thinks that the enviro-assholes and the other pew scum will let it stop at this one play, you are out of your phucking mind. If these a-holes get their way, nobody can fish legally and then, in the very strangest of all circumstances, Birdman and I will be on th esame side as pirates, doing whatever the phuck we want and God bless us all...

Folks, don't dispair; everyone is so fed up and angry the current powersthatbe, that they'll be gone very soon. Here's one small example of how pissed off folks are at government intrusion. My local town selectman felt it was appropriate to begin fining a local family over a 10' Fence ($50K); which the town said they could build, but then changed their mind. The family was able to get the issue on the ballot. The residents set a record vote; with more votes on the Fence Article that ANY OTHER. It had nothing to do the the fence; everything to do with folks seething and wanting to strike back at overreaching government any way they can. The progressives including Obama will be gone shortly.

Then we hear Obama is going to use a little known power to grab millions of acres of land as "Monument land", the craziness keeps on going.

fwiw.

To paraphrase, "They can have my fishing pole when they pry it out of
my cold, dead hands." Nice thought but wrong direction. They don't want your fishing pole. They want you to buy more of them and pay the tax while doing so. Their just going to stop you from using them. ;?

Same thing happens here. I sell garage doors for a living. Customer was turning his (2) car attached garage into a finished basement. Got all of the proper permits. Blocked up the garage openings and built a beautiful room with wet bar, large screen tv, tile, crown molding, pool table etc.......open check book.

Upon getting his final inspection it got rejected because taking away a 2 car garage means more cars on the street in an already conjested area.
Why didnt they tell him that in the begining? Why did they award the start up permits? A-holes!!!

Needless to say its now in litigation!
