Went down to Fourchon on Saturday. Picked up some shrimp at Gail's and made it to the launch for the first time pulled the Wind N' Down with no mishaps. Wind was light seas smooth. My dad and I had my uncle Mike and Brody (my godchild) with us. Plan was the catch some sheephead and maybe small reds in Bay Marchand. Bite was slow, but somewhat steady. We were able to pick up 6-10 heads at each rig. Also caught white trout, croakers, drum and redfish. Nothing fancy, but it was awsome finally being able to take my boat out!! As the morning went on the wind got worse and worse. We called it quits close to noon. By that time there was a nasty 3' chop. Thankfully we ran with the seas back to the pass. And thanks to the curtains we stayed 100% dry!
Saw Woody and his dad at the pass. Did you'll stay close or go far to catch that mangrove?
My brother Cody went offshore to try for amberjack. Hit the GI 70's, 80's and EW 305. Nothing but big red snapper. They took a pounding coming back in. Glad we didn't go all the way out there to come back empty handed!
Now for the boat, Kencraft 215. I love it! It's got to be the biggest baddest 21' boat made! Needs plenty of stuff to make it like I want it, but that will have to come in time. Can't wait for summer!!!!
