So its the beginning of March. Just starting to reach low 50s in Mass. When is everybody putting the boats in the water and heading out for the first season run?

Boat will get waxed on my next trip North. There's still solid ice on Moosehead but I expect an early ice-out this year. When the docks go in I'll be in shortly after. Fishing doesn't open till 5-1.

I was down at the marina yesterday, putting new zincs on, cleaning strainers out, and doing some interior modifications. Looking to splash mid april or so!

I'm hoping to get in the water around 4/3, most likely out of Rockport. I'll probably do abit of bottom fishing within the 3 mile limit until I get too cold. Mostly, it'll be an opportunity to play with some new toys and get things ready for 4/15. Wind speed, direction, sea heights, and temps will be the deciding factors, always are. Otherwise, I'll look for a window around 4/9. If necessary, a personal day from work could get consumed very easily. It usually only takes the right combination of the 3 above factors to sit behind the helm versus sit behind the desk!!

ah you guys again have me beat. Son finishes his ski season april 7th and I will be watching him in Montana at nationals, so there goes march really.

I am hoping mid may. When he gets out of school and can wax the rig as a 'thank-you' HAH

I took off the wrap today and put on the blue tape. If tomorrow is as nice as today, I'll drip some paint. Otherwise I have to become a tunnel rat to remove an old thru-hull.

Hoping to splash in time to pack a few cod and maybe some tilefish.

I went for a ride last Tuesday before the snow. It felt great. One month till it's time to try for a schoolie.

The boat will be splashed 3/19.

I'm planning on tying up my maintenance issues this week, fueling next week and launch on 3/19. First trip will be 3/20 and/or 3/21 based on weather. Although cod season will be about a month away, I'm going to take advantage of some near shore haddock action south of Gloucester.

We're getting closer!!!!!

The Bertram will never leave Islamorada so we neede a replacement. "The Beast" is a 32' Whaler CC that will inhabit my Cape slip beginning sometime in early-May...

Got a new boat this year and it's sitting in rack storage. Hopefully they start putting the other boats in within the next few weeks so they can get mine out for a sea trial. Our slip will be ready in mid-april. Hopefully we can get the boat in around the same time.

On the other hand, I will be in the kayak within the next 2 weeks.

Jay, the Bert is the perfect Keys machine without a doubt and she just fits. Add to that the fact that it's a helluva lot cheaper to keep a boat down there and it just makes sense. Wags, you bet-that's why we chose this boat. Hope yer back is feeling better...

WENT IN LAST WEEKEND!!!..........................Then froze my a$$ off and yanked it right back out:(

Seriously, just put it in for the day to test some things, with no intention of leaving it in. It was nice being out there without any yahoos around, but with the water temp at 40 degrees and that sea-breeze going, once we hit 60 mph, we knew it was going to be a while before we splash again...........Grrrr!!

I'm shooting for the weekend of 4/10-11. Weather permitting, I'd like to run up the backside of the Cape post 4/15 until I get into some cod/haddock action. Can't wait to shake the rust off.

Stopped by ship shops yesterday, they've moved her out and looks they're ready to cut the shrinkwrap off.

What a nice weekend for New England in March. I got the yard cleaned up and went out with my brother to shake down his new to him boat. We got a load of traps set and saw a couple of boats on Sandy Neck enjoying the beach. I will unwrap mine this week and start some varnishing, hope to be ready middle of April.
