I'm thinking about using these guys for service and storage (not for a slip -- I'm on a mooring in Marblehead).

I did a "search" here at THT, and was surprised at what I heard -- lots of people have had poor experiences there in the past. Sloppy service, they take no responsibility if/when they damage your boat, shoddy management... even a physical assault of an old man whose boat was docked too long...vv:o

Have things improved? Any happy customers of late?

Too bad. I'm assuming it's the same ownership... there was talk of it being sold.

There were also people saying that they were "investing in improvements"... ??

I've been there for going on 7 years and really never had a problem with them. They've been good to me. I got a huge dock box, a second box, a filet table and run charters out of there and have had no problem with them. I know some people have had issues but I can't complain.

They put in new main docks last year and all new fingers this year. Bathroom area sucks though. Hope then get it upgraded. You can't beat the location though, just minutes and your outside the 5 MPH zone.

A friend is the main mechanic there for the last few years, he's very good with Yamaha's, know's what he's doing.

Place needs some work, I stayed there for a long weekend last year. the docks are in bad shape, maybe if it was $80 a foot it would be a good place.

I haven't been there in a few years but our first boat was slipped there for 3. Owner was a complete jerk with no people skills what so ever. They did work they weren't supposed to and didn't fix things that needed to fixed.
Lat time we had a problem with the boat I was in Marblehead harbor and used the guys over at State st. Dock. Can't remember the name but they fixed it right the first time and were extremely helpful and reasonable.

Wow. That Beverly Port property has amazing untapped potential. Sounds like that choice land is the only reason this guy remains in business.

BTW, you probably used Richard of Richard's Marine -- great guy and does nice work. His company is at The Landing in the boat building.

RSM, Why are you selling your boat? What's next? Always loved your boat.

Just drove by the old Mcdonalds today and saw that they have moved that other building out in preparation for the Black Cow restaurant to start. Talk about a great location. Probably won't be able to get near that place by boat once its up and running. As for BPM it is to bad the owner is such a douche as it is one of the best locations around with a ton of potential as you noted.
It probably was Richard's. It was my dads boat so he was the one dealing with them at the time.

They moved the building to rebuild the city of Beverly's marina and retaining wall not to work on the Black Cow. The old white building on the commercial dock will be rip down and this building will take it place.

I love my boat, too... Mixed emotions. I'm downsizing for a few years while my son is little -- and we mostly just do Brown's Island trips... ...which I don't need a big boat for. Other activities: West Beach, Kettle Cove and Annisquam. Close to shore. No Vineyard or Cape in my immediate boating future... :nono: And no offshore fishing (unless Bob from Anglers Edge takes me Tuna fishing on his rig... ;cool;)

Looking at Pioneer (175 Baysport and 197 Sportfish), McKee (17-18 cc's), Key West (18cc and 21cc) and Sea Hunt (196 Ultra cc) -- mid range outboard, cc's, late models. Boats that have some amenities and seating for family, but that are still cool. 17 - 20 Feet and CLEAN. Really enamored with the Pioneer 175 Baysport right now. Just want to make sure it's not too small...

I'll go big again one day.

Didn't know that. I don't pay to much attention to whats going on locally, even though I currently live right up the street from there. Is the BC still going to happen in the old Mcdonalds site?

I think so but I don't think they got thier permits yet. They won't be able to start building until the marina is done anyway.

If it helps you any......There is always PortSIDE marine , in Danvers. We are a full service Platinum Mercruiser dealer/service facility with an excellent reputation. We also store boats for winter storage in a very secure yard

As for the BD, it looks like it is going to be an awesome facility when it gets done, but I dont think it will be this summer the way its looking now.

We ran the boat by Port yesterday(in that cold wind) and it looks like they have replaced alot of their docks........except the most important one, the gas dock.

The guys over at Portside Marine in Danvers do it right. I’ve been a customer of theirs for 7 years now. Nothing but good things to say about them. They don’t have the location advantage of Beverly Port, but the extra few minutes it will take to travel down the Danvers River will be worth the trip.

RSM,

If you are on a mooring in Mhead, why not Ryan Marine? They have done some minor work for me and I have no complaints. They did a ton of work on Sea Glass which belongs to a friend of mine and that boat looks and runs great now.

One of our friends dad's brings his 150' yacht up each summer and last summer they docked at Beverly Port Marina for 2 weeks. I didn't hear any complaints about Beverly from them although I doubt they had any work done.

BPM_ "you can't shine a sneaker"

The gas docks are a joke, I wouldn't let my dog get off the boat and walk around, for fear she would kill herself.

They also post the price for fuel on the pump and DONT tell you that they add another 5% tax onto it when you pay!! Shady MF'ers! Who would buy fuel from them anyway, they probably piss into their tanks. The filters on the pumps look like they're 13 years old. City of Beverly is so f'ed up, they ruined that harbor decades ago. It's nothing more than a mooring field for the Jubilee Yacht Club. Good for them.
