Anybody that is not going fishing should come by the CCA State Convention downtown Baton Rouge. Saturday starting at 6pm is the chapter cookoff and tailgate party. The event is outside at the lot just north of the Hilton downtown (across the street overlooking the river) and is probably the best event that they do all year. Each chapter will be cooking and you just walk around and taste and CCA provides the drinks for $50. The events starts at 6pm...hope to see ya'll there. I will be cooking at the Baton Rouge Chapter so please come by and have some food and drink.

Thanks,

Ben

I looked over all the sites and it seems to be 2' called for Saturday. I really don't care that much. I bought the boat in November and have yet to fish in it! If it's rough we will see how she handles. If it's not even better!

Looking good Gary! I'm heading down to Miami saturday. I will be fishing for sailfish for 2-3 days if the weather holds out.

Rob, I'm hooking up with Mike. Sounds like he is the guy to fish with.

Thanks!

Actually that is at the Butch Hill boat launch. I don't know the name of the bayou. The levee you see in the background with the pretty green grass is the back of Sugar Land Golf Course in Raceland. Only launch in Lockport/Raceland I can launch at and not have to cross under bridges. From there I can travel thru Lake Fields and get to the Intracoastal.

We are leaving the house at 5:30. If it's choppy we are going to catch some sheephead in Bay Marchand. If it's not choppy we may head out and catch a couple of AJs. The name of the boat is Wind N' Down. We will be on 16 and 68. My brother is also coming in his boat.

Went out of OB about 4:30 Sunday morning. Tried shelf for wahoo..nada. Then went to Beer Can and Marlin...nada. Caught few reef fish on some rocks and headed in. Flat as a lake out there. Had fun day even though the fishing was slow.

It definitely wasn't flat as a lake south of Venice. Esp. once you got into the blue water.

Fishing a little slow but we managed 20 or so decent blackfin on sun before switching gear to troll . . . nothing on the troll.

If we wanted hoos to begin with I would have went another direction . . .

Oh well that's why they call it fishing.

Fri didn't do much just "chunk junk". However this was clearly due to BANANA CURSE I will explain later . . .

P.S. Got to meet Grady255 at Cypress Cove.

P.S.S. Paul let us know how you do, you are going with the right guy no doubt.

Well here is my report:

Friday Great weather covered a lot of Ground to catch 1 Wahoo and 1 AJ
My father and Fished on one of his friends big boat that he brought over to Venice from Destin for a little while. We hit the 7-mile rigs looking for any bait. None were to be found as we had been told. We sent the jigs down for AJ’s and were able to pull one out of the Rigs. We then donated 12 jigs to the rig and decided to head east. Once there we started trolling and had a double hook up after the first wrap. Landed 1 lost the other. Trolled the rest of the day to no avail.

Saturday my wife came down to fish with my father and I on my boat. This was the first time my wife has been fishing since the birth of our daughter in December so I was really hoping to start her off with a little mangrove fishing in east bay while getting some bait, head out to strap her on to an AJ and if time permitted troll for a Wahoo or two. East bay was nothing but hundreds of the endangered red snapper. No bait, no mangroves, we let my wife have some fun catch and releasing some snapper then headed out to the 7 mile rigs. The wind had picked up but shortly after the third time I launch my Glacier Bay completely out of the water I made it to the rigs. Tolled around the rigs and jigged only to head to the dock with nothing to show.

Sunday, launch the bay boat and headed down river. Finally had a decent day catching Redfish and once it warmed up caught some nice trout. I had fun with my very competitive wife; She cast out and hooks a big red and starts talking trash about first fish of the day. My cork goes down with a smaller red. I just about pole jerk my red in the boat and claim first fish in the boat! She was not happy! To make it worse hers was too big so I let it go.

Also Saturday, comming back up the river the LWLF checked us. They were very respectful and did the check quickly. They did mention that they had been busting a lot people with red snapper. The gave me a warning for the two undersize trigger fish I had (didn’t know it changed, now I do.)

Rob it was good to meet you Thursday night.
