I`ve been fishing Stellwagon only for last 15years and have wanted to go east of Monomoy for some time just havent done it because I didnt want to risk a day aimlessly looking around and come up empty. But I have heard there is good fishing out that way. Is it worth running out even though I`m starting off without a set location. ( But my plan would be to go east 15-20ml or maybe torwards the Sword);?
thanks

I think you're looking for Crab Ledge. 10 miles east. When the tuna are not on stellwagen, they are on crab ledge. Be careful of the fog out there - it comes out of nowhere on a sunny day, and combined with the dozens of other boats there, it can get crazy. If you have radar, not as much of a problem.

Yup. Had some pretty good days literaly right on the wreck as well in mid summer. Just have to deal with the traffic from the tuna trolling fleet.

its a year round closure for groundfish. meaning the iron pile "regal sword" is actually 3 miles south of the northern boundary. there are plenty of Groundfish north of there or in the area east of the BC buoy.

I did not realize the closure went that far south. It's pretty deep east of the BC though. So Crab Ledge is closed as well then.

I've done well in April off Crab Ledge. Mostly in tight say 110-130 feet where the bottom has character.

I caught a bunch in 350' on day last year. Heavy jigs and lots of throw backs. It SUCKED!! Electric would have been sweet.
