I'm looking at some used gear and I was wondering of the Penn Itn'l 50W has any known problems. Any reason to avoid these? Thanks, guys.

Nope, I have 8 of them. The newer Intl. II's have the unibody construction which structurally is stronger in comparison. You will get lots of wear and tear out of them.

nope. find the one thats in the best possible shape and you'll be happy. 2 speeds are even better

Thanks guys. If they are not unibody, should I avoid them?

Keep in mind if they are not T's or two-speed (S), which have the 1 piece frame, they are 28 or more years old. Not saying they won't work, but the likelihoood is if they have been fished, the frames may not be 100% true, and they don't develop the drag that the one-piece units do.
Personally, other than my old 12T's, I've gotten rid of all my single speed trolling reels, and I think most everone would agree two-speeds are the way to go.
