I have a 23 center console with bracket motor mount. I am installing a Furuno FCV620 and need advice on a transducer. Furuno tech actually said and I quote" Most fishfinder / transducer issues are from transducer location and a less than optimum flow of clean water. Its much easier to get a transom mount to run clean"???? He felt with a bracket motor mount that I would get best results from a transom mount if mounted properly?

My other consideration would be a flush mount through hull with tilted element to match my deadrise. I'm willing to put in the extra effort and cost of a thru hull if I would get better performance. Open for suggestions from an experienced Furno user.

I have a Furuno w/t an Airmar transom mounted transducer. It was easy to mount, the one I got matched my boats transom angle and deadrise perfectly w/t no shims. I have had no problems with the transducer at all. I have never lost bottom while underway. Furuno did have to replace my unit because it was defective though. A through hull is supposed to work the best because it will be placed in an area of the boat with less water turbulence than at the transom. I've heard mixed things on the shoot-thru-hull transducers, but apparently they work ok if they are installed properly. That's the best way to go if you dont like drilling holes in a new boat.
