Haven't posted in a while, and actually had to get a new username. A couple buddies picked up a new to them boat this weekend. Hull is a 1991 intrepid, actually a 26 not a 28 as stated in the above link. I crawled all over her when they got her back this weekend, and was quite impressed with my initial assessment. I had previously fished a 37 late model cuddy intrepid a few times, and knew the later boats were yacht quality, but based on that model I assumed they were all geared towards booze cruises and panty dropping. This 26 footer definitely shows the marks of a quality built boat in this size range. I haven't been in her in the water, but she seems very well thought out, especially for a boat built 20 years ago. Euro transom, high single level floor, that is channeled to drain throughout, and appears to be angled enough to keep all water going out the back. Very solid, appears to have all foam stringers and no signs of structural weakness. Is a rocket ship with the 250 ox66s. I had this same engine setup on a 27 contender that was a much bigger boat, and it was a rocket ship and bulletproof, so I would expect this boat to be similar. From experience, these engines are thirsty, so with only 165 gallons, we started looking for places to add fuel. We ripped out the above deck round well, and found a sizeable compartment underneath that, where the factory well was. It looks like a 40 gallon below deck tank may go through that hatch without any problems and the other tank is within arms lenght of there, so plumbing might not be an issue. Their initial plan is to the extra tank there (under the leaning post) and go back with a much smaller above deck recirculator (that one in the pic is 55 gallons). Any thoughts on this, or experience with these hulls?
