If you are a Mass. based fishermen/resident you likely noticed that Senator Kerry did not sign the Congressional letter against the CITES listing for Bluefin Tuna, while many other Mass. Congressmen and Senator Scott Brown did. We are concerned about Senator Kerry's position and we have not given up on him. Next week we (American Bluefin Tuna Association) will be talking with him again. At this point fishermen need to e-mail him and tell him how much the fishery means to them. Keep the notes to him civil and to the point. He is our Senator and American fishermen need his help. American Fishermen did not create this problem and have always followed the quotas and fished more conservatively than the rest of the world. See the ABTA web site www.theABTA.com (http://www.theabta.com/) under "current actions" for information that writers would include in their e-mails to him, especially the ANTI CITES letters from any of the local state governments.

Send E-mails to his "legislative director" john_phillips@kerry.senate.gov (john_phillips@kerry.senate.gov) and ask him to please make the Senator aware of your concern. E-mails that arrive Today, Monday and Tuesday will have the greatest effect.

GO FOR IT !!!! We need Senator Kerry on our side

Kerry's a pussy. Always has been. Speaking from personal experience dealing wtih him as well as watching him operate. How guys like that are in public office is beyond me. He could nevre survive in real life.

Let him know you want his help on this CITES issue! He only cares about votes and he needs to realize how many fishermen there are in MA!

X2 on all points, RD. I had a non-fishing buddy of mine send the note I wrote requesting help as having my name on a request would be count-reproductive. live-shot kerry is a waste of dna and I wouldn't count on this jerk-off to do anything for you without a meaningful quid pro quo. Don't hold yer breath, but make the effort anyway...

A "thank you note" to those congressmen who became signatories is also a good idea. A pat on the back can often times as effective be as a letter of complaint. Let them know we appreciate their support and are here watching what they do.
