You missed Bayou Too.. J&M or Sam's on Canal road has all the bait you'll need,as far as live bait they usually catch some under the Pass bridge,or just outside the Jetties...This time of year,I kinda' wouldn't count on it.....;?

Troll around rigs, and chunk bait ,speed jigs. Look for water temp or color change dark colors for the whoos.Think safety for yourself and crew

If this is your first trip to OB/GS I would start off with something a little less vigorous. Bull reds are all over the place now schooled up within 5 miles of the shoreline and easily caught. Catch and release snapper till your arm falls off. for tuna you need to run to Petronius (approx 70 miles) or one of the further rigs. We frequently do this on overnight trips, which can be a blast, but as others said, be very careful as winter time water temps can be quite dangerous. It is blast, but takes lots of planning and good weather to do a rig trip.
Hope this helps

I 2nd the bull reds that mscontender brought up. I like to use jigs and sign cast them instead of pulling bait around or drifting. If your into cobia fishing this is good practice casting jigs.
PS. I installed spell checker so I can meet the standards here on the gulf coast forum.

reds rock this time of year. like the misses said throw jigs and you can also run up to fish river and try for some trout but thatll all be inshore. look for some big bull reds around the sand bar at the pass at fort morgan.

LC. its "sight" not "sign",
FD: this time of year the wx windows are shorter which can make a trip to the tuna grounds not much fun.. you might want to take the others advice and try something a little closer. I would suggest AJ fishing either the rigs or rocks in 200-400 ft and some wahoo fishing in the same areas...Or sheepshead at the jetties...or mermaids at Tacky Jacks.

Plan B with a crew of three made it out on sunday. Cold but beautiful day to be on the water. We ended up with a dozen snowies, 6 tiles and 6 white snapper. We saw Recess out there slaying some AJs, a commercial boat and one other. Except for one bay boat we were the only one at the Fort Morgan ramp leaving and returning.http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll188/jnfranz/snowygrouperhole003-1.jpg
The water was pretty nice but cool
