Hey guys, looking for recommendations on a canvas guy who could do a center console enclosure for me. I'm hoping for somebody on cape cod. Also, what am I looking at for costs? I'd like to keep it under 3k. I don't think i need a full enclosure, but just some wings for added protection.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Keith. I had some canvas work done at McDougals a few years back. I'm not sure I would go back to them, as they tried to charge me about two and half times what they quoted me. We worked it out in the end, but I was pretty pissed about the change in price. The person who quoted me the price was brand new at the time and I think she really underestimated the cost. But they never gave me an update along the way, just a huge bill at the end of the job.

The West Marine in Falmouth employs a guy who makes boat canvas. He has never done any work for me, but he has been doing it in the area for a while. He is an older guy and his cards are attached to the bulletin board in the back of the store.

I've been having my work done at North Marine lately, but I have not needed any canvas work on the new boat. They are really good guys and will give you an honest up-front estimate.

Thanks guys. Has anyone actually had Ed do their enclosures? Would love to know how it came out and rough price.

There is a guy in sandwich, I forget his name right next to the sandwich marina near the sandwich ship supply. I heard he does a pretty good job, I may have him do up a curtain for me this season.

Bill Keith of Ray Keith & Son Custom Canvas out of Dennis did my canvas on my 27 Contender linked below. Bill does excellent work and price is right.

Jon,

That canvas job looks great! You said he was priced pretty fair? Thanks for the recommendation.

I second the Keith's. They have a shop above Northside Marina. Billy is a great guy who is very fair with his prices. He has done leaning posts, console covers and did and encloser for my old center console Bluefin. Right now I have a set of factory curtains that I bought with the boat but when its time to get some new ones, I will have him do them...( they were tossed in with the sale of the boat) I just had him make me a cooler seat pad for my fish cooler and it came out perfect....

I just looked at Jon's pics and mine was like his old set up. Like he said it was great for just the captain but the crew got destroyed by the waves and rain. I used to call it a phone booth setup. On my new boat I have the wings that flair out, like a V. They go back far enough so that I can tuck 4 people inside the setup with our a problem. Either set up id great, I would stay away from the phone booth style if possible...just my 2 cents. You can take a look at my web site and see how they look. I have one pic with then down and some others with them rolled up and out of the way...
