Is there something out there of commerical quality to replace the junk Shurflo and Jabsco sell?
I have had two of these wear out in less than 3 year of moderate use and want to buy something made to last.
It maily drives my icemaker and two sinks, one of which is also the bathroom shower handle. I don't even make heavy use of them but they seem to burn out after about a years use so I am looking for a heavy duty replacement if anybody knows of one.
Thanks for your help!

I run a 33' Tiara Open and wonder what the multi-million dollar yachts use? There must be something better than the junk that is available through West Marine (no knock on West Marine)
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks

You might take a good look at Johnson Pumps. http://www.johnson-pump.com/JPMarine/products/watersystem/index.html I haven't used them yet but they seem to hold a higher reputation for reliability and relatively-quiet operation.
Of course any pump depends a lot on owner maintenance to keep filters and passages clean and minor system leaks under control.

Yep, the Head Hunters are the gold standard and you will pay for it. I have heard of no better luck with Johnsons, they are in the same class as the SurFlos and Jabscos. I have spent a lot of time researching pumps, talking to owners and yards.
When you say these pumps are failing, what exactly do you mean? You may have a low voltage problem, among other things. I know of full time boaters who have had these happily on board for many years. Me, I opt for separate pumps (I have AC and a DC pumps), pressure switches and accumulator tank on my fresh water system.

In both cases the pressure switch failed (one - three months after the one year warrenty expired of course).
I wasn't as shocked on the price for the Excaliber ($1100) as I was the fact that they only warranty it for two years. At 5x the price they only give 2x the warranty.... ;?
It would be cheaper from a pure pump standpoint to put in a Shurflo and replace it 3 times but it is the work to get down there in the engine compartment and change it out that is a bigger issue than the cost of the pump.
I would rather put something in that would last for 10 years or something.
Thanks again for the thoughts.
