Anybody going? ;?
Since we didn't HAVE the VA Boat Show in January, I need a FIX! :thumbsup:
I'll probably go around noon (with the camera) on Saturday and stay the mandatory 3-4 hours! :grin:
Post here if you want to meet there for a drink. ;?

The show was much smaller than it has been. One whole building was eliminated, there were fewer boats outside, and the indoor halls had fewer boats. One building was empty save for same golf carts and jet skis.

Bruce, no pics this year? I just read the Garret's has Parker now. True?
I missed the show for the first time in many years, unless I was at the Miami show.

Ian,
I took a pic (2) of ONE boat - a 38ft. Eastern w/250 Yamas on the back. ;?
The rest were of a Yama MOTORCYCLE and a couple of "tri-cycle" bikes. :o:Q:grin:
Not as interesting this year due to the LACK of dealers there - yep, the "round" building was EMPTY and there were some Hobie's, kayaks, and ATV's in about 1/2 of another building.
Noticeably MISSING this year (unless I didn't catch them?), were SCOUT, Mako, Boston Whaler (I DID see a 15-ft'er.?), Sailfish, Southport, Triton (I DID see ONE outside), Albe, Kencraft/Sea King (except for a flats-type boat), Polar, and a few others.
Ed's had a LOT of boats there - as usual - including the Sea Hunts and Carolina Skiffs, a Tidewater, some pontoons, and a few others.
Southeastern Marine was there, with a good number of Grady's, as usual. :thumbsup:
Contender even had a couple of BIG boats outside - a 26 or so and a 32 or so? ;?
Whelan's was there with the Steiger's, and a BIG Sports-Craft. LOVE them Steiger's! ;cool;
I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the the "Parker" sign at Garrett's booth, but saw Lewis Muse and told him I was very happy they got the line! :thumbsup: Garrett's has been around a LONG time and have had Key West for a long time and, more recently, Hydra-Sport - Parker's will fill out the line for them. :thumbsup: I've ALWAYS loved the "1801" Parker! ;cool; Would rather have a 150/4 on it (vs. 115/4 that the boat show has - about $24,900 or so - B,M & T)
They have done a LOT of "fixer-upper" and new additions to the marina and they're ALWAYS nice folks to deal with! I wish them the best! :thumbsup:

I heard about the Eastern. Were they 250s or 350? 500 HP on a 38 seems small?
My BIL called me to go, but I had too much too do, (including working on my boat) but sounds like I didn't miss anything.
Kind of sad. I used to work at both shows, and many boats used to be sold at them.

I'll post a few pics in a minute - the Eastern had 250's, which I thought was "small" for that boat.

Here you go ...
Oops - the EVANS (NOT Eastern! :roll ) is a "36" - NOT a "38". :roll
The Yama bike was 1900cc & SHARP! ;cool;

Thanks man! Looks like I didn't miss much.
Not sure what I think about that Evans. Know a guy who had a pilot house Evans with a F225. He had to run it near WOT to keep it on plane. Too much weight in the bow to be efficient.
Is that a piece of aluminum angle for the engine tie bar?

:o:o:o Looks like it COULD be - I didn't get close enough to notice - was on the way home when I took it? ;?:Q:grin:

Wow. That's real safe. I'm no engineer, but I would think a piece of aluminum angle is much weaker than a real tie bar.
I hope that was just to get it to the show, but from the wear on the skegs, looks like it has been run like that. Great way to get sued if it fails, tosses somebody down or out of the cockpit when an engine goes full lock at cruise speed.
