Rob, (rbhankins) just called and said if anyone is going to venice to fish, get bait before you go down there....I think he said "Larry,s" is closed today or for the weekend.....bring pogies with you or be ready to spend alot of money for them when you get there.....I hope i posted exactly what he meant!....good luck Rob!

Thanks for the heads up. Pogies at the Dock cost an arm and a leg.

You can buy pogies ay Captain Larrys for $20 for 50 lbs. At Venice Marina last year they were $50 for 25 lbs. Captain Larrys is located at the 61 mile marker right below Belle Chasse.

This has always bugged me about Venice. Get down there and there's no bAit or ice and have to go all the way back to frelich's

FWIW Capt Larry's is closed for Mardi Gras.

The VM pogies are not the best. They smell rotten even when they're still frozen.

It didn't matter b/c kings and sharks will eat anything and that's about all we had in the slick.

Lot of boats ot Sun morning, lots. Only one other one at night.

that makes me feel a little better. I got a crew together friday night but called it off sat. morning. I had a feeling it would be a boat show and I have a funeral to go to today. that along with conflicting forecasts on when the front would come through caused me to cancel.
how many boats?

About 30 when I left around 1:30 pm.

Some had came and went throughout the day too.

I won't be long and it'll be like the old spot: the only time the fishing will be good is early in the week or when it's to damn rough to get out there.

Haha the old spot the place to be I bet!

We'll see when the reports come in. It was in blue water. We were in green.
