I am a new owner who is going to be calling Minmar Marine my home in Sea Isle City, NJ and was wondering if anyone has any feedback on the marina and where to buy some solid fishing gear in the area. Year one I am just looking to get used to the area and not looking to go offshore much more than 10 miles or so.

Any advice is appreciated.

i fish out of sea isle, finadicts in ocean city has a big selection of fishing gear and local info also tackle direct in somers pt, which has online store. theres also a bait and tackle shop when you go over bridge into sea isle on right although i havent been there in awhile, used to put in at the ramp across from minmar but never had any dealings with the marina.i go out townends inlet which is a good inlet, i would stay away from corsons inlet unless your familiar with it , used to go out of it all the time but started going out townsends so much easier and safer. good luck css

I dock across from Minmar at the Sea Isle Marina. Larsons has a good supply of bait and fuel. Leaving Sea Isle Blvd. just before Rt..9 across from Wawa is a great local tackle shop called "My Wife's Rod & Reel Tackle Shop". They have good fresh bait. The owner Capt. Bill has a ton of knowledge of the local waters(50 + years) He will point you in the right direction. He can also repair rods & reels.
See you on the water:)

I keep my boat at the end of the lagoon right across from Minmar. There is Gibsons Tackle right there. I get all of my bait and incidentals there. Come over the bridge and make a right at the first road(Park Rd). Gibsons in right there on the left. Real good guy and keeps the reports pretty current.

When there, walk across the street. If you see a guy on a World Cat(that would be me), stop and say Hi.

Corsens inlet is traditionally tough to get through so go for Townsend inlet. It is usually good but now and then can get a little nasty so just keep your eyes up.

On the way to Corsens, the channel can get super shallow at low tide so plan around that. Dead low and you are churning mud in the center of the channel. I did see a dredge there but no idea what was done

Hopefully we'll see you there this summer

Bill and Ed at FinAttics sometimes have some used rods and reels for sale. Also in SIC is Red Dog tackle just down from Carmen's Restaurant. See Erick or Carol for local fish and crab spots.

Moran's Dockside just over the bridge in Avalon will have everything you need to fish back bay and inshore - always has good fishing reports as well. Folks at Minmar are pleasant but facility needs updating.

I just rented a house in avalon with friends for the entire summer again this year. We stay on the bay and have a slip so I am looking to venture a little more offshore this year. I have done a little research but I would be running out of Townsend inlet and looking to do some tuna fishing. Preferrably inside 45 miles. I have charted out the Cigar and that looks to be the closest option. I live in Maryland so fishing out of this area is completely new to me. Any advice would help. ime of year, locations, etc
