The local Yamaha Dealer offer to replace the stolen 2005 F150- 25" shaft with a 2009 F225 Yamaha for about the same price; the F225 is a 20" shaft so a shaft "extention" will be added to it; now the questions:
a) Is this shaft extention something desirable? Is it common practice? Will it make it harder to service the lower unit?
b) Are the 2009 - F225 Yamahas good motors? Have they improved the internal corrotion issues (If they where any as I read in this Forum?)
c) The Boat is a Polar 21.4 W/A; it ran just fine with the F150, a little under power but it got me where I want it to go at 32 + miles p/h with 3 people on board gear, fuel etc. The extra weight will be about 120lbs but I will get and extra 75HP; will I see a great improvement in performance? Anybody out there runing a Polar with a F225? I like to get some opinions from the THT experts. Thanks
