Tiffany Yachts is just down the road from us and caught fire the other day. They produce some really nice boats. Hope it wasn't too bad.

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY - A yacht business in the Northern Neck is badly damaged by fire that resulted from what witnesses are calling an explosion.

Nick Chiles of Reedville sent pictures of the fire to CBS 6.

It happened at Tiffany's Yachts in Burgess in Northumberland County Tuesday afternoon.

CBS 6 has learned the fire started inside a boat shed and quickly spread to two other buildings, but all employees and customers are okay.

Fire investigators are trying to figure out how it started, but firefighters from multiple jurisdictions worked to put out the flames.

Saw this in the news today. Hope the Cockrells get through this ok. Read that they lost a couple boats.

Would be tough to lose a couple of boats under construction in this market if that is what happened.

I agree. Luckily no one was injured. It must be hard to put out a fire with all the epoxy and chemicals that must be in those buildings. They build darn nice boats, but way over my price range.

That' a bummer. A friend keeps his boat at Indian River Marina in the summer. There is a Tiffany there (big, maybe 60ft?) and it is spectacular. Just beautiful and we awed over it many times. Then we were tuna fishing about 45 miles out and we see a big boat coming really fast. It's the Tiffany from the marina. I swear it came close enough to spit on. With all that ocean...oh well, I'm not gonna hold it against the builder.
