Currently have a Garmin 5212 with a GSD 22 which I am happy with but was considering purchasing a Furuno FV585 unit. I am going to either add another Garmin screen or a dedicated fish finder and from what I have read sound like Furuno will probably not get as much surface noise as the Garmin. Can I use the 585 with my B260 transducer (Garmin model number 010 10640 00) (Airmar number B260 6br 41 - 226- 1-01). I noticed some transducers require the MB 1100 box as well would that be required for this transducer? I would appreciate any assistance you can provide as I keep getting conflicting views. Also what is the current price for the 585?

Thanks,

Joe

The 585 is $1269. A matching box is not required. There are no off the shelf adapters to make your B260 work with Furuno but I know you can get some limited compatibility out of it. Call airmar at 843-210-7000 and they can advise you what you need.
