My friend caught a sturgeon while on my
boat off Jones Beach in 40'! It fought like
hell! At first we thought it was a dog or a blue
fish but it was pulling straight down and taking out drag
so we thought maybe it was a BIG fluke!
It was easily 3' long! It looked prehistoric!
We sent him on his way!
Anyone have any idea how old a 3' long sturgeon
would be?

I was out fishing West Bank Lighthouse at night when I heard belly flops all around us.I thought it was blues or srtipers hitting bait fish, but was told htat they are Sturgeons mating. I also saw one being caught in the Hudson Riover in Englewood cliffs. About a 5 footer.

We've caught them in the Kennebec River, Maine. They don't fight much, my brother in law snagged one and dragged it back to the boat sideways....
