Last weekend there seemed to be an excessive amount of white smoke coming from my 300 HPDI's. I'm trying to prepare myself for the visit to my mechanic. Anyone know what might be causing this?

Smoke or steam? White is usually steam while smoke is usually slightly blue and has a definate oil smell to it.

could have been steam, I noticed it after coming through a storm. Just kinda worried me since it's my dads boat and not mine. I'm going to run it a little tomorrow and find out if I was just freaking out or if there is something wrong. Thanks for putting my mind at ease though

No alarms? What was the engine temp? Same temp and steam for both motors?

Steam goes away quickly and smoke hangs around for a couple minutes. That might narrow it down as well.

Had the same problem with mine a few months back if it was steam, probably was. It was the exhaust tuners rotted out. Only one was doing it but they checked both and both were bad so Yamaha replace them under warranty. It is a complete tear down to replace them. Only thing left on the boat was the engine brackets while it was apart.

Wonderful. More 300 HPDI episodes for me to look forward to. And no dealer warranty here for it.
