I will take delivery of a 2004 180 sportsman with a 150hp 4 stroke Yamaha tomorrow. I am downsizing from a 26 Trojan. The question I have is on recommended accessories as my VHF, GPS, depth finder ect... stayed with the previous boat. I have already purchased a Uniden Mystic. Cool toy.

What is a Uniden Mystic? Never heard of it.

I hope you bought that Uniden Mystic as a toy....because you really should install a 25W fixed mount VHF with a good antenna. There will be that day when you pick up your toy and the battery is dead.... It's fine for emergency backup though.....

ndallas. Might want to post this on the electronics forum. Much more likely to get responses there regarding electronics. Might also be helpful if you provide a little more information as to what you want out of a gps, vhf and fishfinder. What is your budget. Will you mostly use the boat for fishing or cruising? Do you need or want a sophisticated gps or can you live with a combo gps/fishfinder? Do you have a t-top or does this equiptment need to be readable in full sunlight? Good luck.

I would strongly advise a fixed mount. Recently went out with a friend (buddy boat) who only had a handheld. Fog set in and he DROPPED THE HANDHELD OVERBOARD. He had no way of contacting me.
