Florida & Georgia - Outer Banks 2nd week of Sept.

We were planning a trip to the keys but now the wife wants to go to the Outer Banks. She found some great deals on houses, after the holiday they drop in price to almost half the going rate.
Have never been there and looking for some input, any towns better then the next? Places to stay away from. And any charter reccomendations.
Would like to go offshore at least once and maybe some sound fishing.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

In September the rates can drop as much as 75%, its the best time to go.
