I am looking at purchasing a 2001 Yamaha HPDI & a 22 foot boat in Fort Lauderdale. I need a recommendation for a competent and honest technician/mechanic to look the boat and motor over. Any suggestions? I want a compression check and a computer read on the engine computer, as well as a general thumbs up/thumbs down type opinion. Thank you.

Call Boat Center in Ft. Lauderdale.
(954) 581-4300
They have been taking care of my Yami's & Merc's for the past 16 years.

I've heard good reports about Joel's, but had no luck with them personally. They didn't return my phone calls when I was trying to get them to work on my engine. Lauderdale marina isn't the cheapest, but they seem to do good work and had a quick turnaround time.

Thank you - I hope the boat & engine come back with a clean bill of health.

I would recommend Boatcenter or Coastline Marine in Pomp/Laud. Jamie and Mark at Coastline do a fantastic job of customer service and have done minor work on my HPDI's, stuff I couldn't do.

If you don't mind heading down South of the Border to Miamuh, Eric's Outboard here is excellent.

I know this is a little out of the way, but he does make house calls. Ocean Outboards out of Boynton Beach. Yamaha is all he works on! Rob is a great tech!
